Hund-n-Flocken - Puppy
A smaller kibble with increased levels of oil and protein, for
puppies and smaller dogs who have a faster metabolic rate. This
higher calorie formula is also suitable for pregnancy,
lactation, stress, high activity and underweight, mature dogs.
This formula is made with the same high quality ingredients as
our Hund-n-Flocken Adult Food, but with added nutrients to
support skeletal development and growth. Development of the
growing puppy is influenced by several factors, such as
genetics, environment and nutrition. Dogs who will be 75 lbs. Or
more at adulthood, are especially prone to bone and joint
problems in later life.
Available in 4lb., 15lb, 33lb |

People often want their puppies to grow as big as possible.
Feeding extra calories for too long will not make a dog any
bigger or taller, but it may make him grow too quickly. Often,
the dog will grow faster at the rear, which can lead to laxity
(and pain) in the hips. This is a major cause of joint problems
in later life. Young dogs should be kept lean until tow years
of age and should be allowed to fill out with maturity, not from
excess calories. At about six months of age, we recommend
mixing the Hund-n-Flocken adult food with this puppy food.
Nutrients such as protein, calcium and total energy intake can
affect the rate of skeletal development, particularly in large
and giant breeds who are particularly prone to hip dysplasia and
joint problems.
By restricting the energy intake during the 6 to 12 month rapid
growing period, it may be possible to regulate the rate of
growth. As the dog approaches adult body weight, energy needs
decrease and should be limited accordingly. The above
information is summarized in the chart below:

*Note, smaller dogs (or those with a faster metabolic rate)
can continue eating puppy food (or switch to MMillennia during
their adult lives.
Both our Hund-n-Flocken and Hundchen Flocken can be mixed with a
little water if desired. However, we do not recommend soaking
the kibble as many dogs do not like to eat soggy food. In
addition, if the food is left dry, the crunchy texture will
assist in keeping the teeth clean.
Our Hundchen Flocken Puppy Food has a ratio of 1.19 Calcium : 1
Phosphorus. This is within the optimum range for growth. |
